
Getting Your PET Blowers Back Up and Running
Most PET blowing machines rely on shortwave infrared lamps to get those preforms soft enough to shape. We built our replacement lamps for ADS blowers to be simple, “plug-and-play” parts. They work with about 95% of the brands you’ll find globally. It’s not some fancy marketing pitch. It just comes down to the physics of heat and standard electrical footprints.
The nitty-gritty on the specs
Here’s the thing: if you want a preform at the right temperature without scorching the plastic, your wattage-per-centimeter has to be spot on. We make sure our lamps hit the exact voltage and length that original ADS units require. If you’re running a high-voltage setup, you need a filament that can actually take the heat without popping a few days in. That’s why we use a tungsten filament inside a halogen-filled quartz envelope. The halogen cycle basically puts the evaporated tungsten back onto the filament. It keeps the light steady and, more importantly, keeps the lamp from dying early.
The fit matters
We obsess over the connectors. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or Sk15 bases, the fit has to be tight. Why? Because a loose connection creates resistance. Resistance creates heat. And that heat is exactly how you end up melting your wiring harnesses. Not a great day at the office. Our lamps have precision-ground ends, so they seat perfectly in the reflector every time.
A quick heads-up on heat
High-wattage lamps give you that thermal punch you need for fast cycle times. But there’s a catch. They put off a massive amount of ambient heat. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just aren’t powerful enough, the lamp housing will overheat. When that happens, the quartz degrades way faster than it should. Keep your airflow clear. Your lamps will thank you by lasting much longer. We keep these in stock so you aren’t stuck waiting weeks for an OEM shipment. Just swap them out, wire them up, and get your line moving again.
