Getting the wattage right for a waterproof setup isn’t about complex math—it’s really just about making sure you aren’t fighting a losing battle against the cold. Whether you’re dealing with an industrial wash-down station or a high-end bathroom, you want a space that feels warm and cozy, not a room with one scorching hot spot and four freezing corners. Matching the power to the room Think of it this way: the bigger the room, the more “muscle” you need. If you’re heating a tiny, enclosed nook, a 250W lamp is usually plenty. The heat stays trapped, and it gets warm fast. But once you move into those medium or large spaces, you’ve got to jump up to 500W or even 1000W. Here is the trap people fall into: if you go too low, the lamp never gets a break. It just runs and runs, which kills the filament way faster than it should. On the flip side, if you go overkill, you’ll end up with “hot zones” that feel uncomfortable and a power bill that’ll make you cringe.
