Ever feel like you’re constantly chasing your temperature settings? One minute the bottles look great, and the next, you’ve got uneven walls or weird deformations. It’s frustrating. If you’re running a SIPA rotary machine, the culprit is usually something simple but annoying: your lamps aren’t actually pulling the same power. Here’s the deal. Most generic lamps have a “tolerance” of about 10%. That sounds small, but in a heating oven, it’s a disaster. You end up with hot spots and cold spots. It’s like trying to bake a cake in an oven where one corner is freezing and the other is scorching. You just can’t get a consistent result. Getting the power right We fixed this by tightening those tolerances. We make our quartz heater tubes to hit a 100% power match. When every lamp in the bank puts out the exact same amount of infrared energy, the volatility just disappears. Now, if you’re pushing for faster cycle times, you’ll want high-wattage tubes. They get the job done. But there’s a catch. More power in a short tube means more heat hitting the ends of the lamp. **A quick tip:**Make sure your cooling blowers are clean and actually working. If they aren’t, you’re looking at melted sockets. Not a fun way to spend a Tuesday. The “Drop-In” Setup We use high-purity quartz so the short-wave IR actually gets through to the preform. And because we use standard industrial connectors, you don’t have to mess around with rewiring. You just slide them into the existing spots and you’re good to go. Simple. One thing though—be careful when handling them. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil on the glass creates a tiny hot spot. Over time, that spot will eat through the tube and kill the lamp. Give them a quick wipe with some isopropyl alcohol before you install them. It takes two seconds and saves you a lot of headache later.
